ovl: check for bad and whiteout index on lookup
Index should always be of the same file type as origin, except for
the case of a whiteout index. A whiteout index should only exist
if all lower aliases have been unlinked, which means that finding
a lower origin on lookup whose index is a whiteout should be treated
as a lookup error.

ovl: do not cleanup directory and whiteout index entries
Directory index entries are going to be used for looking up
redirected upper dirs by lower dir fh when decoding an overlay
file handle of a merge dir.
Whiteout index entries are going to be used as an indication that
an exported overlay file handle should be treated as stale (i.e.
after unlink of the overlay inode).
We don't know the verification rules for directory and whiteout
index entries, because they have not been implemented yet, so fail
to mount overlay rw if those entries are found to avoid corrupting
an index that was created by a newer kernel.

inode_doinit_with_dentry() in SELinux wants to read the upper inode's xattr
to get security label, and ovl_xattr_get() calls ovl_dentry_real(), which
depends on dentry->d_inode, but d_inode is null and not initialized yet at
this point resulting in an Oops.
Fix by getting the upperdentry info from the inode directly in this case.

ovl: fix origin verification of index dir
Commit 05052664aa0e ("ovl: verify index dir matches upper dir")
introduced a new ovl_fh flag OVL_FH_FLAG_PATH_UPPER to indicate
an upper file handle, but forgot to add the flag to the mask of
valid flags, so index dir origin verification always discards
existing origin and stores a new one.

ovl: fix random return value on mount
On failure to prepare_creds(), mount fails with a random
return value, as err was last set to an integer cast of
a valid lower mnt pointer or set to 0 if inodes index feature
is enabled.

ovl: document copying layers restrictions with inodes index
The inodes index feature introduces a behavior change - on mount,
upper root origin file handle is verified to match the lower root dir.
This implies that copied layers cannot be mounted with the inodes index
feature enabled, without explicitly removing the upper dir origin xattr
and the index dir.
The inodes index feature is required to support:
- Prevent breaking hardlinks on copy up
- NFS export support (upcoming)
- Overlayfs snapshots (POC)

ovl: cleanup orphan index entries
index entry should live only as long as there are upper or lower
hardlinks.
Cleanup orphan index entries on mount and when dropping the last
overlay inode nlink.
When about to cleanup or link up to orphan index and the index inode
nlink > 1, admit that something went wrong and adjust overlay nlink
to index inode nlink - 1 to prevent it from dropping below zero.
This could happen when adding lower hardlinks underneath a mounted
overlay and then trying to unlink them.

ovl: persistent overlay inode nlink for indexed inodes
With inodes index enabled, an overlay inode nlink counts the union of upper
and non-covered lower hardlinks. During the lifetime of a non-pure upper
inode, the following nlink modifying operations can happen:
1. Lower hardlink copy up
2. Upper hardlink created, unlinked or renamed over
3. Lower hardlink whiteout or renamed over
For the first, copy up case, the union nlink does not change, whether the
operation succeeds or fails, but the upper inode nlink may change.
Therefore, before copy up, we store the union nlink value relative to the
lower inode nlink in the index inode xattr trusted.overlay.nlink.
For the second, upper hardlink case, the union nlink should be incremented
or decremented IFF the operation succeeds, aligned with nlink change of the
upper inode. Therefore, before link/unlink/rename, we store the union nlink
value relative to the upper inode nlink in the index inode.
For the last, lower cover up case, we simplify things by preceding the
whiteout or cover up with copy up. This makes sure that there is an index
upper inode where the nlink xattr can be stored before the copied up upper
entry is unlink.
Return the overlay inode nlinks for indexed upper inodes on stat(2).

ovl: implement index dir copy up
Implement a copy up method for non-dir objects using index dir to
prevent breaking lower hardlinks on copy up.
This method requires that the inodes index dir feature was enabled and
that all underlying fs support file handle encoding/decoding.
On the first lower hardlink copy up, upper file is created in index dir,
named after the hex representation of the lower origin inode file handle.
On the second lower hardlink copy up, upper file is found in index dir,
by the same lower handle key.
On either case, the upper indexed inode is then linked to the copy up
upper path.
The index entry remains linked for future lower hardlink copy up and for
lower to upper inode map, that is needed for exporting overlayfs to NFS.

For rename, we need to ensure that an upper alias exists for hard links
before attempting the operation. Introduce a flag in ovl_entry to track
the state of the upper alias.

Bad index entries are entries whose name does not match the
origin file handle stored in trusted.overlay.origin xattr.
Bad index entries could be a result of a system power off in
the middle of copy up.
Stale index entries are entries whose origin file handle is
stale. Stale index entries could be a result of copying layers
or removing lower entries while the overlay is not mounted.
The case of copying layers should be detected earlier by the
verification of upper root dir origin and index dir origin.
Both bad and stale index entries are detected and removed
on mount.

ovl: lookup index entry for copy up origin
When inodes index feature is enabled, lookup in indexdir for the index
entry of lower real inode or copy up origin inode. The index entry name
is the hex representation of the lower inode file handle.
If the index dentry in negative, then either no lower aliases have been
copied up yet, or aliases have been copied up in older kernels and are
not indexed.
If the index dentry for a copy up origin inode is positive, but points
to an inode different than the upper inode, then either the upper inode
has been copied up and not indexed or it was indexed, but since then
index dir was cleared. Either way, that index cannot be used to indentify
the overlay inode.
If a positive dentry that matches the upper inode was found, then it is
safe to use the copy up origin st_ino for upper hardlinks, because all
indexed upper hardlinks are represented by the same overlay inode as the
copy up origin.
Set the INDEX type flag on an indexed upper dentry. A non-upper dentry
may also have a positive index from copy up of another lower hardlink.
This situation will be handled by following patches.
Index lookup is going to be used to prevent breaking hardlinks on copy up.

ovl: verify index dir matches upper dir
An index dir contains persistent hardlinks to files in upper dir.
Therefore, we must never mount an existing index dir with a differnt
upper dir.
Store the upper root dir file handle in index dir inode when index
dir is created and verify the file handle before using an existing
index dir on mount.
Add an 'is_upper' flag to the overlay file handle encoding and set it
when encoding the upper root file handle. This is not critical for index
dir verification, but it is good practice towards a standard overlayfs
file handle format for NFS export.

ovl: get exclusive ownership on upper/work dirs
Bad things can happen if several concurrent overlay mounts try to
use the same upperdir/workdir path.
Try to get the 'inuse' advisory lock on upperdir and workdir.
Fail mount if another overlay mount instance or another user
holds the 'inuse' lock on these directories.
Note that this provides no protection for concurrent overlay
mount that use overlapping (i.e. descendant) upper/work dirs.

vfs: introduce inode 'inuse' lock
Added an i_state flag I_INUSE and helpers to set/clear/test the bit.
The 'inuse' lock is an 'advisory' inode lock, that can be used to extend
exclusive create protection beyond parent->i_mutex lock among cooperating
users.
This is going to be used by overlayfs to get exclusive ownership on upper
and work dirs among overlayfs mounts.

Use the new ovl_inode mutex to synchonize concurrent copy up
instead of the super block copy up workqueue.
Moving the synchronization object from the overlay dentry to
the overlay inode is needed for synchonizing concurrent copy up
of lower hardlinks to the same upper inode.

ovl: don't set origin on broken lower hardlink
When copying up a file that has multiple hard links we need to break any
association with the origin file. This makes copy-up be essentially an
atomic replace.
The new file has nothing to do with the old one (except having the same
data and metadata initially), so don't set the overlay.origin attribute.
We can relax this in the future when we are able to index upper object by
origin.

x86/mshyperv: Remove excess #includes from mshyperv.h
A recent commit included linux/slab.h in linux/irq.h. This breaks the build
of vdso32 on a 64-bit kernel.
The reason is that linux/irq.h gets included into the vdso code via
linux/interrupt.h which is included from asm/mshyperv.h. That makes the
32-bit vdso compile fail, because slab.h includes the pgtable headers for
64-bit on a 64-bit build.
Neither linux/clocksource.h nor linux/interrupt.h are needed in the
mshyperv.h header file itself - it has a dependency on <linux/atomic.h>.
Remove the includes and unbreak the build.

fs/exec.c: account for argv/envp pointers
When limiting the argv/envp strings during exec to 1/4 of the stack limit,
the storage of the pointers to the strings was not included. This means
that an exec with huge numbers of tiny strings could eat 1/4 of the stack
limit in strings and then additional space would be later used by the
pointers to the strings.
For example, on 32-bit with a 8MB stack rlimit, an exec with 1677721
single-byte strings would consume less than 2MB of stack, the max (8MB /
4) amount allowed, but the pointers to the strings would consume the
remaining additional stack space (1677721 * 4 == 6710884).
The result (1677721 + 6710884 == 8388605) would exhaust stack space
entirely. Controlling this stack exhaustion could result in
pathological behavior in setuid binaries (CVE-2017-1000365).

ocfs2: fix deadlock caused by recursive locking in xattr
Another deadlock path caused by recursive locking is reported. This
kind of issue was introduced since commit 484ee525f1dc ("ocfs2: take
inode lock in ocfs2_iop_set/get_acl()"). Two deadlock paths have been
fixed by commit fb3ba7bb37ed ("ocfs2: fix deadlock issue when taking
inode lock at vfs entry points"). Yes, we intend to fix this kind of
case in incremental way, because it's hard to find out all possible
paths at once.
This one can be reproduced like this. On node1, cp a large file from
home directory to ocfs2 mountpoint. While on node2, run
setfacl/getfacl. Both nodes will hang up there. The backtraces:
Fix this one by using ocfs2_inode_{lock|unlock}_tracker, which is
exported by commit 6d150a7b8efb ("ocfs2/dlmglue: prepare tracking logic
to avoid recursive cluster lock").

slub: make sysfs file removal asynchronous
Commit 4f6df015a6b7 ("slub: separate out sysfs_slab_release() from
sysfs_slab_remove()") made slub sysfs file removals synchronous to
kmem_cache shutdown.
Unfortunately, this created a possible ABBA deadlock between slab_mutex
and sysfs draining mechanism triggering the following lockdep warning.

It'd be the cleanest to deal with the issue by removing sysfs files
without holding slab_mutex before the rest of shutdown; however, given
the current code structure, it is pretty difficult to do so.
This patch punts sysfs file removal to a work item. Before commit 4f6df015a6b7, the removal was punted to a RCU delayed work item which is
executed after release. Now, we're punting to a different work item on
shutdown which still maintains the goal removing the sysfs files earlier
when destroying kmem_caches.

When using get_options() it's possible to specify a range of numbers,
like 1-100500. The problem is that it doesn't track array size while
calling internally to get_range() which iterates over the range and
fills the memory with numbers.

fs/dax.c: fix inefficiency in dax_writeback_mapping_range()
dax_writeback_mapping_range() fails to update iteration index when
searching radix tree for entries needing cache flushing. Thus each
pagevec worth of entries is searched starting from the start which is
inefficient and prone to livelocks. Update index properly.

mm/vmalloc.c: huge-vmap: fail gracefully on unexpected huge vmap mappings
Existing code that uses vmalloc_to_page() may assume that any address
for which is_vmalloc_addr() returns true may be passed into
vmalloc_to_page() to retrieve the associated struct page.
This is not un unreasonable assumption to make, but on architectures
that have CONFIG_HAVE_ARCH_HUGE_VMAP=y, it no longer holds, and we need
to ensure that vmalloc_to_page() does not go off into the weeds trying
to dereference huge PUDs or PMDs as table entries.
Given that vmalloc() and vmap() themselves never create huge mappings or
deal with compound pages at all, there is no correct answer in this
case, so return NULL instead, and issue a warning.
When reading /proc/kcore on arm64, you will hit an oops as soon as you
hit the huge mappings used for the various segments that make up the
mapping of vmlinux. With this patch applied, you will no longer hit the
oops, but the kcore contents willl be incorrect (these regions will be
zeroed out)
We are fixing this for kcore specifically, so it avoids vread() for
those regions. At least one other problematic user exists, i.e.,
/dev/kmem, but that is currently broken on arm64 for other reasons.

mm, thp: remove cond_resched from __collapse_huge_page_copy
This is a partial revert of commit 1d1f01859810 ("mm, thp: copying user
pages must schedule on collapse") which added a cond_resched() to
__collapse_huge_page_copy().
On x86 with CONFIG_HIGHPTE, __collapse_huge_page_copy is called in
atomic context and thus scheduling is not possible. This is only a
possible config on arm and i386.
Although need_resched has been shown to be set for over 100 jiffies
while doing the iteration in __collapse_huge_page_copy, this is better
than doing
if (in_atomic())
cond_resched()
to cover only non-CONFIG_HIGHPTE configs.

Input: synaptics-rmi4 - only read the F54 query registers which are used
The F54 driver is currently only using the first 6 bytes of F54 so there is
no need to read all 27 bytes. Some Dell systems (Dell XP13 9333 and
similar) have an issue with the touchpad or I2C bus when reading reports
larger then 16 bytes. Reads larger then 16 bytes are reported in two HID
reports. Something about the back to back reports seems to cause the next
read to report incorrect data. This results in F30 failing to load and the
click button failing to work.
Previous issues with the I2C controller or touchpad were addressed in:

powerpc/64: Initialise thread_info for emergency stacks
Emergency stacks have their thread_info mostly uninitialised, which in
particular means garbage preempt_count values.
Emergency stack code runs with interrupts disabled entirely, and is
used very rarely, so this has been unnoticed so far. It was found by a
proposed new powerpc watchdog that takes a soft-NMI directly from the
masked_interrupt handler and using the emergency stack. That crashed
at BUG_ON(in_nmi()) in nmi_enter(). preempt_count()s were found to be
garbage.
To fix this, zero the entire THREAD_SIZE allocation, and initialize
the thread_info.

perf probe: Fix probe definition for inlined functions
In commit 75574d7228cc ("perf probe: Fix to probe on gcc generated
functions in modules"), the offset from symbol is, incorrectly, added
to the trace point address. This leads to incorrect probe trace points
for inlined functions and when using relative line number on symbols.
Using 'pfunct', a tool found in the 'dwarves' package [1], one can ask what are
the functions that while not being explicitely marked as inline, were inlined
by the compiler:
Now lets concentrate on the 'e1000_consume_page' one, that was inlined twice in
e1000_clean_jumbo_rx_irq(), lets see what readelf says about the DWARF tags for
that function:
So, the first time in e1000_clean_jumbo_rx_irq() where e1000_consume_page() is
inlined is at PC 0x17be6, which subtracted from e1000_clean_jumbo_rx_irq()'s
address, gives us the offset we should use in the probe definition:
0x17be6 - 0x17a30 = 438
but above we have 876, which is twice as much.
Lets see the second inline expansion of e1000_consume_page() in
e1000_clean_jumbo_rx_irq():

KVM: x86: fix singlestepping over syscall
TF is handled a bit differently for syscall and sysret, compared
to the other instructions: TF is checked after the instruction completes,
so that the OS can disable #DB at a syscall by adding TF to FMASK.
When the sysret is executed the #DB is taken "as if" the syscall insn
just completed.
KVM emulates syscall so that it can trap 32-bit syscall on Intel processors.
Fix the behavior, otherwise you could get #DB on a user stack which is not
nice. This does not affect Linux guests, as they use an IST or task gate
for #DB.
This fixes CVE-2017-7518.

powerpc/powernv/npu-dma: Add explicit flush when sending an ATSD
NPU2 requires an extra explicit flush to an active GPU PID when
sending address translation shoot downs (ATSDs) to reliably flush the
GPU TLB. This patch adds just such a flush at the end of each sequence
of ATSDs.
We can safely use PID 0 which is always reserved and active on the
GPU. PID 0 is only used for init_mm which will never be a user mm on
the GPU. To enforce this we add a check in pnv_npu2_init_context()
just in case someone tries to use PID 0 on the GPU.

For real-space designation asces the asce origin part is only a token.
The asce token origin must not be used to generate an effective
address for storage references. This however is erroneously done
within kvm_s390_shadow_tables().
Furthermore within the same function the wrong parts of virtual
addresses are used to generate a corresponding real address
(e.g. the region second index is used as region first index).
Both of the above can result in incorrect address translations. Only
for real space designations with a token origin of zero and addresses
below one megabyte the translation was correct.
Furthermore replace a "!asce.r" statement with a "!*fake" statement to
make it more obvious that a specific condition has nothing to do with
the architecture, but with the fake handling of real space designations.

perf/x86/intel: Add 1G DTLB load/store miss support for SKL
Current DTLB load/store miss events (0x608/0x649) only counts 4K,2M and
4M page size.
Need to extend the events to support any page size (4K/2M/4M/1G).
i2c: imx: Use correct function to write to register
The i2c-imx driver incorrectly uses readb()/writeb() to read and
write to the appropriate registers when performing a repeated start.
The appropriate imx_i2c_read_reg()/imx_i2c_write_reg() functions
should be used instead. Performing a repeated start results in
a kernel panic. The platform is imx.

xfs: don't allow bmap on rt files
bmap returns a dumb LBA address but not the block device that goes with
that LBA. Swapfiles don't care about this and will blindly assume that
the data volume is the correct blockdev, which is totally bogus for
files on the rt subvolume. This results in the swap code doing IOs to
arbitrary locations on the data device(!) if the passed in mapping is a
realtime file, so just turn off bmap for rt files.

kbuild: fix header installation under fakechroot environment
Since commit 306709a7e330 ("uapi: export all headers under uapi
directories") fakechroot make bindeb-pkg fails, mismatching files for
directories:
touch: cannot touch 'usr/include/video/uvesafb.h/.install': Not a
directory
This due to a bug in fakechroot:
when using the function $(wildcard $(srcdir)/*/.) in a makefile, under a
fakechroot environment, not only directories but also files are
returned.
To circumvent that, we are using the functions:
$(sort $(dir $(wildcard $(srcdir)/*/))))

ACPI / scan: Fix enumeration for special SPI and I2C devices
Commit 8497a9ecda99 ("ACPI / scan: Set the visited flag for all
enumerated devices") caused that two group of special SPI or I2C
devices do not enumerate. SPI and I2C devices are expected to be
enumerated by the SPI and I2C subsystems but change caused that
acpi_bus_attach() marks those devices with acpi_device_set_enumerated().
First group of devices are matched using Device Tree compatible property
with special _HID "PRP0001". Those devices have matched scan handler,
acpi_scan_attach_handler() retuns 1 and acpi_bus_attach() marks them
with acpi_device_set_enumerated().
Second group of devices without valid _HID such as "LNXVIDEO" have
device->pnp.type.platform_id set to zero and change again marks them
with acpi_device_set_enumerated().
Fix this by flagging the SPI and I2C devices during struct acpi_device
object initialization time and let the code in acpi_bus_attach() to go
through the device_attach() and acpi_default_enumeration() path for all
SPI and I2C devices.

"More UFS fixes, unfortunately including build regression fix for the
64-bit s_dsize commit. Fixed in this pile:
- trivial bug in signedness of 32bit timestamps on ufs1
- ESTALE instead of ufs_error() when doing open-by-fhandle on
something deleted
- build regression on 32bit in ufs_new_fragments() - calculating that
many percents of u64 pulls libgcc stuff on some of those. Mea
culpa.
- fix hysteresis loop broken by typo in 2.4.14.7 (right next to the
location of previous bug).
- fix the insane limits of said hysteresis loop on filesystems with
very low percentage of reserved blocks. If it's 5% or less, just
use the OPTSPACE policy.
- calculate those limits once and mount time.
This tree does pass xfstests clean (both ufs1 and ufs2) and it _does_
survive cross-builds.
Again, my apologies for missing that, especially since I have noticed
a related percentage-of-64bit issue in earlier patches (when dealing

Allow stack to grow up to address space limit
Fix expand_upwards() on architectures with an upward-growing stack (parisc,
metag and partly IA-64) to allow the stack to reliably grow exactly up to
the address space limit given by TASK_SIZE.

mm: fix new crash in unmapped_area_topdown()
Trinity gets kernel BUG at mm/mmap.c:1963! in about 3 minutes of
mmap testing. That's the VM_BUG_ON(gap_end < gap_start) at the
end of unmapped_area_topdown(). Linus points out how MAP_FIXED
(which does not have to respect our stack guard gap intentions)
could result in gap_end below gap_start there. Fix that, and
the similar case in its alternative, unmapped_area().

blk-mq: fix performance regression with shared tags
If we have shared tags enabled, then every IO completion will trigger
a full loop of every queue belonging to a tag set, and every hardware
queue for each of those queues, even if nothing needs to be done.
This causes a massive performance regression if you have a lot of
shared devices.
Instead of doing this huge full scan on every IO, add an atomic
counter to the main queue that tracks how many hardware queues have
been marked as needing a restart. With that, we can avoid looking for
restartable queues, if we don't have to.
Max reports that this restores performance. Before this patch, 4K
IOPS was limited to 22-23K IOPS. With the patch, we are running at
950-970K IOPS.
